An incident lands in ServiceNow after the DEX dashboard flagged an employee laptop that keeps dropping its VPN connection. The automated fix has already run twice without holding, so the incident now waits on a technician who has to decide which tool to open next.
Each of the digital employee experience tools in this list describes, on its own pages, how it detects friction or automates fixes, so the difference between them shows up at this handoff. This list opens with ScreenMeet, the live session layer for that moment, and follows with nine DEX tools drawn from the June 8, 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools and other vendor-published analyst recognition.
This comparison is based on vendor-published pages reviewed in October 2026, and "Not listed" means those pages do not describe the capability.
Gartner defines DEX management tools as software that measures and helps IT continuously improve two things: employee sentiment toward company-provided technology, and the performance of that technology. Under the same definition, these tools surface insights and drive self-healing automations by processing data from endpoints, applications, employee sentiment and organizational context in near real time.
Nexthink, for example, describes Flow setting up automatic remediations when the same issue repeats. Issues outside those automations still land with a technician, who opens a live remote session to resolve them.
Our 2026 guide to digital employee experience covers why DEX matters for retention, while this list compares the tools themselves. Each entry below closes with what the tool offers when a technician needs to step in.
The order below follows how closely each tool connects with ScreenMeet and ServiceNow, and it is not a ranking of the nine DEX platforms against one another.
ScreenMeet is a live remote support layer that works alongside DEX tools, and it is listed first because the issues automation cannot close still need a technician session, whichever DEX tool flagged them.
ScreenMeet is the step-in itself, supplying the live session that DEX tools such as Nexthink and Tanium hand off to while keeping that session inside the ServiceNow workspace.
Nexthink was named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the third consecutive year in June 2026.
Nexthink partnered with ScreenMeet in October 2025 to add screen sharing, mobile camera collaboration and secure remote control. Flow handles the repeat issues automatically, and ScreenMeet supplies the live session when an issue needs a person.
Tanium was named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Digital Employee Experience 2026 Vendor Assessment, and a Leader in the inaugural 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Management Tools.
ScreenMeet powers Tanium's screen sharing, so operators launch a secure session with one click from the Tanium console. Every session generates a structured summary automatically, and operators can send the Tanium audit log to the ServiceNow incident work notes with one click. Attended and unattended access are both supported on Windows, while Mac currently supports attended access only.
ServiceNow was recognized for the first time in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX, positioned in the Visionary quadrant.
The ServiceNow Store listing reviewed for this guide does not describe a built-in remote control session, so teams choose the tool technicians use for a live session separately.
ControlUp was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the third consecutive year.
ControlUp Enrich gives technicians real-time device insights inside the ServiceNow interface. From there, they can shadow or take full keyboard and mouse control of Windows, macOS, Linux or thin client endpoints.
TeamViewer was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the third consecutive year, and in every edition since the report began.
Remote support is part of the same TeamViewer ONE platform, which TeamViewer says closes the loop between observing an issue and remediating it.
Omnissa was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the second consecutive year. It also ranked in the highest three across multiple DEX use cases in the accompanying Critical Capabilities report.
Omnissa says the product works alongside UEM, VDI and ITSM tools. Its ASDA example, built on Workspace ONE and Omnissa Intelligence, pairs real-time visibility with remote support and automated workflows.
Lakeside Software was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the third consecutive year. Its SysTrack platform starts with endpoint telemetry to identify root causes, uses low-code workflow orchestration to automate remediation, and scales to estates of over one million endpoints. ServiceNow appears in Lakeside's integrations list, although the pages reviewed for this guide do not describe a built-in live remote session for technicians.
Riverbed was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools for the third time in a row, and says it ranked second across every category in the 2026 Critical Capabilities report. Aternity collects device, application and network visibility through a single agent and adds built-in remediation with no-code workflows. Aternity Replay supports faster root cause analysis, although the pages reviewed do not describe a built-in live remote session.
HP was recognized as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools in June 2026. Its Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) brings experience data together across endpoints, applications, unified communications, virtualization and printers, and HP says Gartner identified cost optimization as its highest-scoring use case. The HP WXP Device Management app for ServiceNow fills device information into incident forms automatically, although the pages reviewed do not describe a live remote session.
ControlUp and TeamViewer describe built-in remote control on the pages reviewed for this guide, and Nexthink and Tanium connect to ScreenMeet for the live session. The pages reviewed for the remaining tools do not describe a built-in live session, which leaves the remote support tool as a separate choice.
That handoff is the live support gap in a DEX program, and our breakdown of native vs. standalone remote support covers how the two approaches differ for ServiceNow teams.
Two checks are worth taking into any vendor demo before a shortlist is final. First, ask whether the DEX tool's alerts create or enrich a ServiceNow incident, as ControlUp's automatic ticket creation and HP's incident form population do. Second, confirm that live sessions cover Windows and Mac in both attended and unattended modes, since the Tanium integration supports unattended access on Windows only.
Teams turning those checks into a rollout plan can make their DEX strategy actionable and pick the DEX KPIs worth tracking after launch.
Gartner describes DEX management tools as software that measures and helps IT improve employee sentiment toward company-provided technology and the performance of that technology. They process near-real-time data from endpoints, applications, employee sentiment and organizational context to surface insights and drive self-healing automations.
Nexthink, ControlUp, TeamViewer, Omnissa, Lakeside Software, Riverbed and HP each announced a Leader position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools published on June 8, 2026. This list covers vendors that announced their placement on their own pages, so it may not include every vendor the report evaluated.
Some DEX vendors describe built-in remote control, including ControlUp and TeamViewer through TeamViewer ONE. Others rely on integrations for live sessions, as Nexthink and Tanium do with ScreenMeet.
ScreenMeet is a live remote support layer that works with DEX tools such as Nexthink and Tanium. It runs sessions inside the ServiceNow workspace and documents each one automatically with AI Summarization.
Some DEX platforms include remote support, such as TeamViewer ONE and ControlUp ONE, while Nexthink and Tanium connect to ScreenMeet for the live session. Issues that automation cannot fix still need a technician in a live session, whichever route a team takes. Our comparison of remote support software covers the tools built for that session.
Every DEX tool in this list describes detection or automated remediation on its own pages, so those features alone do not separate the shortlist. For a ServiceNow service desk, the deciding factor is where the live session happens and what it writes back to the incident once the technician closes it. ScreenMeet keeps that session inside ServiceNow, alongside whichever DEX tool flags the issue.
